Another Friday. Another week of album sales.
Atlanta’s own Anthony David topped the list at Moods Music this week with Acey Ducey. He’s the first signed artists to Indie.Arie’s new label. He just started paying guitar at age 21, and he’s served in the 82nd Airborne Division and is a Desert Storm vet. But the most impressive thing: His album released June 24. Meaning in only 3 days, David secured the No. 1 spot at Moods. Pretty impressive for a major-label debut.
Coldplay’s Viva la Vida took second at Decatur CD and Criminal Records, but secured the top spot at Ella Guru. It was beat out by Alejandro Escovedo’s Real Animal and My Morning Jacket’s Evil Urges. Speaking off, they’re becoming a force to be reckoned with with this new release. Paste writer Jay Sweet did a great cover story on them, centered around their performance at the South by Southwest Festival in Texas in March.
